Long time, no see...

It's been a while since I updated, I'm feeling like I've been neglecting my blog.

I'm sorry! :(

I have an insane weekend ahead of me. One of my best friends is getting married!!

I also have some pre-occuping possibly life changing events coming up...it might be a while until I'm able to update, but I promise to be back as soon as I can!

Wish me luck!

I missed it...

International Yarn Bombing Day - June 11th 2011

Something I have had a HUGE interest in for the past several years is Yarn Bombing. I've been enamoured with the idea of decorating something with yarn. I mean, really, it is no worse than spray painted tags on the sides of train cars or buildings. Actually, it is better. Spray paint you have to wash down (if you're lucky) or paint over it. That's the only way to get rid of it. Whereas yarn, comes off with the snip of a pair of scissors. Explain to me how yarn bombing is worse??

Sorry...I get a little heated about this topic. A lot of people love it, even go as far as to call it art (which it really is) but some think it is defacing property, graffiti. Pish posh. In no way is it destructive. Not in the slightest...try to tell me it is. Please!

Anyway, I didn't realize that it was International Yarn Bombing Day until the day of. Of course I had plans to help out a friend. I didn't end up getting home until 6pm and was exhausted. Nonetheless, I have crocheted 10 flowers with BIG plans of using them. (I'm going to start small and work my way up) The way I see it, yarnbombing isn't designated to one day of the year. So, next weekend...just you wait! Tottenham won't know what hit them! :)

My adventures with My Little Pony

I could barely sleep all night knowing that I really wanted to share this little lady with all of you. I know you'll get a kick out of her!

My oldest daughter Rachel Lynn turned 6 on May 22nd. Money has been a little tight around here for a while now, and so I decided that instead of going out and buying her more junk that is going to end up at the bottom of her toybox, I would make her something with my hands and from my heart. I make the second most adorable sock monkies you've ever seen (which I'm sure I will post photos of later) and have a pretty god idea of how to make and put together amigurumi. I started making a bunny for her. This is what I ended up with:
It just wasn't working out the way I wanted it to. And the end result was looking a little baby-ish. Rachel Lynn has made it QUITE clear to me that she is a big girl, not a baby!

So I googled...and googled. Until the early morning hours...until I happened upon HER!

I changed a couple things throughout, like the yarn and colors that I used (Red Heart Comfort in Lavender for the body, and Red Heart Super Saver in Plum Pudding for the mane and tail) and the way I crocheted some things. The instructions are fairly simple and it was quick to finish. I'm in love! So was Rachel Lynn...she named her Blueberry. :)

The tail and mane are made out of curly cues...something that I have always loved, but never knew how to make. Apparently it is just something standard that comes with crocheting...I had no idea. So once I found out how to make them with this pattern, I was estatic! They have opened new doors for me! My life is now complete!! ...okay, so I'm exaggerating!

I can't wait to make another one, I love crocheting amigurumi!
My mom even names hers! She is a funny duck! :D

Up next...monkies!!
Stay tuned!

New life, new blog

To start, I would like to give a HUGE shout out to Patti Friday of pattifriday.com. This woman has inspired me to do some amazing things, has picked me up out of the dumps and given me hope! Couldn't ask for a better friend! xoxo Go check out her blog, you will NOT be disappointed!

I have decided to take my talents and run with them. Let's hope I don't trip and fall!

I have this unsatiable obsession with yarn. I love it: The different colors, textures, looks. Thick, thin. Course, soft. I love it all!! I have boxes, shelves, containers, bags and even laundry baskets FILLED with it. I have been told I need to get rid of some: file down my collection to something manageable. I can't do it. Just...can't...do...it!
I crochet. Yes, I do. 2 years ago, I would have laughed had you asked if I could or would crochet. I was a knitter. Loved the security of hearing the two needles clacking together. Knew that I could create amazing things, with two needles and a ball or yarn. My mom kept trying to convince me to get into crochet, I thought she was crazy. And watching her use a hook to create things just looked foreign to me. So, I went home that night and did a general search in the images tab of Google for crochet. It was love at first sight!

I happened upon this woman, her name Teresa of The Art of Crochet by Teresa, who posts instructional video on everything crochet. I sat for 6 hours (into the wee morning hours) and learned to crochet. I haven't stopped since. When someone asks if one of my creations are knitted, I have to admit, I turn up my nose at them, just a little bit! :D I am officially a knitting snob...sad, but true.

Recently, I moved to a small 2 bedroom apartment with my Darling Daughters (DD's)...from a 4 bedroom house where I had my own corner to store and collect all that I wanted. It has been very hard for me to put some of it into storage, but alas, it is there. I can visit it anytime I would like, but it isn't the same.

I even toyed with the idea of giving up my bedroom so I could have a craftroom. Oh, the things we do for love!

My latest obsession has been cotton yarn. No longer for making just dishcloths, imagine that! Look at this hat, adorable, right?!

The larger flower was slightly complicated: I've never used more
than one strand while crocheting before. Looks
great though!
I have many MANY more creations, ideas and experiences to share...I can't wait to get it all out of my head and onto this fun and exciting blog. Nobody minds if I post more than once a day, do they?

Happy to be blogging, once again,
xo
